"Shiny and oh so bright, Vol.1 / LP: No past. No future. No sun." CD by Smashing Pumpkins
Article description
The Smashing Pumpkins were founded in Chicago, Illinois, in 1988 and released their debut album Gish in 1991. They had great success with the quadruple-platinum Siamese Dream in 1993 and the extraordinary 10x-platinum Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness (1995). After the release of Adore, Machina/The Machines of God and Machina II/The Friends & Enemies of Modern Music, the original band broke up in 2000. Singer/guitar player Billy Corgan reformed the group 2005 and got different artists involved for Zeitgeist, Teargarden by Kaleidyscope, Oceania, and Monuments to an Elegy. In June 2018, The Smashing Pumpkins released βSolaraβ, their first song in 18 years in which you can hear Corgan back together with original band members James Iha (guitar) and Jimmy Chamberlin (drums). The track was recorded in the Shangri La Studios in Malibu, California, with legendary producer Rick Rubin and long-standing The Smashing Pumpkins guitarist Jeff Schroeder. It offers a first insight into the upcoming music of the newly re-formed line-up. With nine studio albums and over 30 million album sales, this Grammy, MTV, VMA and American Music Award-winning band are one of the most influential bands in history.
