by Matthias Mader (08.04.2010) Vampires need blood to survive, and Horror Punk followers need new shots of their drug of choice again and again - delivered by: The Other. The outfit saw the light of day in 2002, before that, the four blood suckers performed as The Ghouls, a Misfits cover band. "New blood" is The Other's fourth album - the blokes have refined and honed their style even more on this one. Together with bands like The 69 Eyes, Wednesday 13 or Balzac, The Other are said to be the current crème of Horror Punk. Tracks such as "Back to the cemetary", "In league with the devil" or "Demons walk the earth" are leaning heavily towards Misfits-land, but you can't accuse the blokes of being mere copycats, with them having this mean little Teutonic touch (maybe Mr. Danzig is a bit greenish with envy...). "New blood" is ear candy for the connoisseur, offering the perfect mix of Punk, Gothic and Metal.
