Long before the current Iron Maiden began its triumph, there already was an English band of the same name. The only album that group ever made is now being released in its full glory. Not long ago the original recordings were found and now there actually exists a full version of Maiden Voyage. The result is impressive although not perfect: here and there some tracks miss a finishing touch and while the blues escapade "CC Rider" sounds good on itself, it does not fit well with the atmosphere of the rest of the material. But even this flawed doom masterpiece strongly invokes the suspicion that the musical world has truly missed something with the original Iron Maiden!
