by Oliver Kube (15.05.2009) Supposed you're in a British Hardcore band which has become an overnight sensation with a low budget debut, and now you're sitting on a contract with one of the biggest players in the music biz worth a million Pounds... What to do? Well, just deliver the roughest and heaviest album possible - at least that's what Gallows have done with this release, follwing their "Orchestra of wolves" debut of 2007. The disc starts slowly and sludgy with the tenacious intro "Riverbank", evolving into the solid Rock piece "London is the reason". After that, you barely have time to breathe - the five blokes from Hertfordshire plough relentlessly through hefty songs like "Leeches", or nervous "I dread the night". Just when "The vultures" with its acoustical guitars, strings, and Frank Carter's only moments as singer and not screamer, has began, you're allowed to take in some oxygen... And off they go again. This is the Hardcore / Punk output of the year - period.
