by Marcel Anders (11.07.2006) Since “Sing the sorrow“ released in 2003, the four Californians are true rock stars -at least in the U.S.. They changed from the indie-label, Nitro, to major industries and sold more than a million records, had with “Girl's not grey“ an MTV hit and sold out the biggest festivals and arenas. A surprising success that should continue with their seventh album, “Decemberunderground“. Because here, too, you get a killer single and plenty of material that should appeal to a huge range of consumers. No wonder with their unique style-mix of spherical, morbid industrial sounds, heavy punkrock and catchy pop songs. A.F.I. (which stands for A Fire Inside) is the connecting link between Nine Inch Nails, Misfits and Good Charlotte. Which also reflects in the gloomy lyrics. The 13 songs turn out to be a trip into a cold, gloomy underworld that serves as a pool for all like-minded people - for outsiders, rejects and freaks. A scenario like from a Tim Burton film!
