10.Wheel of time
by Jürgen Tschamler (08.07.2010) With "At the edge of time", Blind Guardian present us with a great compromise of their old Speed times and new orchestral material. Some fans considered the last two albums being too pomp-laden -they missed the speedy riffs of the early days. "At the edge of time" combines Hansi KΓΌrschβs penchant for intricate bombast arrangements with their old-school guitars. On "Tanelorn (Into the void)", the band steps on the accelerator, incredibly speedy, almost Thrash-like. "Road of no release" could be called a little epic comprising all those trademarks of Blind Guardian, including the mighty choir. Bombastic "Valkyries" features an awesome melody line and peppy riffs. And just listen to extremely fast "A voice in the dark": veteran fans will be in their own personal heaven - a killer track! This album certainly is a milestone in Blind Guardianβs creative work; few combos manage the feat to combine old and new that well. Hats off to the Germans.
