Spock's Beard have committed themselves to Progressive Rock since 1992. But Spock's Beard manage to merge their style with Pop elements - only a few other bands can convert this idea into results as good as Spock's Beard. According to the band, they are influenced by Genesis and Yes. "The Light" is an impressive demonstration of how fresh and unique this mixture is - this album is still considered the band's best one by many fans. But Spock's Beard have never taken just one direction, they have always been looking for new influences. For example, Spock's Beard use part music elements, and the sophisticated counterpoint technique which has its origin in baroque and renaissance. The band doesn't choose the easy way, and their albums always have a unique and new twist. Still, "Octane", "Fell Euphoria" or "Brief Nocturnes And Dreamless Sleeps" appear to be homogeneous, in spite of several singer changes. The band's musical spine is Alan Morse, and so we'll be able to hear more of Spock's Beard - and the music will be inventive, brimming with new elements and ideas as usual for sure.
