Extreme metal and Cradle Of Filth are intertwined so closely you can’t tell where one ends and the other begins. Forming in Suffolk in 1991, today Dani Filth is the last man standing from the original Cradle of Filth line-up. Filth, who is unquestionably the mastermind behind the music, has built up the band, honing its signature sound and morbid, corpse-painted image at every step of the way.

Cradle of Filth quickly evolved from their black metal origins to a band that could crossover into the mainstream. Their videos were played by MTV, and appearances in British Kerrang! magazine saw them reach a wider audience. Albums such as Damnation And A Day, Dusk...and Her Embrace (CD | vinyl) and Cruelty and the Beast are a subversive collection of tracks, filled with shrieking vocals and bombastic assaults on bass and percussion.

But even the most successful bands don’t survive some of the setbacks Cradle of Filth have endured unmarred. Various label changes, albums seemingly not meeting expectations, line-up substitutions - Cradle of Filth survived all that, and flourished. Paul Allender's return to the band marked the beginning of an even stronger phase. Godspeed On the Devil's Thunder, Darkly, Darkly, Venus Aversa, and The Manticore And Other Horrors show off their musical prowess, and their penchant for lyrics dealing with morbid poetry and horror films.

With a new album, Cryptoriana - The Seductiveness of Decay, due out in September 2017, Cradle of Filth fans are eagerly anticipating the next wave of darkness.
