Brand new Melodic Rock quartet from Finland, from which the sound sounds refreshing melodic and always surprising.

EMP Editorial Team:

Finland is not only the country of origin for Power Metal à la Stratovarius, but also for top quality Melodic Rock - Land of tales with their debut are the living proof for it. Intricate melodies rule on the 11 compositions, but every trick of the trade is well used, too: "Fading away" and "Wasted chance" are convincing ballads, whereas the opener "Silence" is a typical mid-tempo Rock song with a great guitar solo. A bit rougher are "Noody dares" and "Keep out" - two tracks you won’t forget that easily. Again and again, Kristian Kontu’s strong voice attracts the attention - he uses his instrument very well, but guitar and keyboards also leave their marks. Land of tales would certainly call Dokken as one of their influences - some songs just sound as if they were directly penned by the master himself ("So long", "Right as rain"). (Anne-K. Fricke / 18.07.2008)
