"The crusade" sounds a lot like an old school Thrash album.

There is no doubt, with "The crusade" Trivium wrote one of the most important Metal records of the year. Why? It is generally said that Trivium are the upcoming Metallica. In England, the band celebrates huge successes and could have taken the secure way after the excellent predecessor, "Ascendancy". Instead, the quartet around Matt Heafy presents an unbelievable progression considering the short time span. More than ever, the song structures orientate in the classic Speed/Thrash Metal of the 80s and early 90s. Riffs in typical Metallica and Megadeth style are plenty - embedded in fantastic Metal songs with refrains for the eternity! Metalcore? Zero! The second plus of the band is the vocal part of Heafy himself who now concentrates on singing leaving out the roaring parts. Trivium 2006 is matured, clean and a 100% like Heavy, respectively Thrash Metal. The great production terrifically fits the perfectly arranged songs and adds a pleasant, rough heaviness. One of the top albums of the year - doubts inappropriate!
