Fairytales from Nightwish

There's an opinion that "The best of" albums are something like waste of money. I can't stand by this side for 2 reasons.
1. If you're not a fan of Nightwish so this CD is a great opportunity to discover their "gold era" with Tarja Turunen on vocals. Her voice, charisma and appearance in combination with magic music of Tuomas Holopainen are the things that made this band absolutely unique on the global heavy metal scene.
2. If you're a diehard fan of the band you also should pay your attention to this release since there are 4 rarities: Sleepwalker (Eurovision Version), Nightquest (taken from the Japanese edition of "Oceanborn album), Lagoon and The Wayfarer (both are bonus tracks from "Century Child" album).

I believe women belong in metal...Backstage! So I never really gave Nightwish (from Finland) much attention. It was like 'A chick singing? That´s not metal, man!' But then a friend of mine sent me an mp3 of 'Dark Chest of Wonders' from 'Once' and I was sold! Absolutely brilliant! Heavy, melodic and that VOICE! I now have 3 Nightwish albums, including this greatest hits cd. And if you are unsure whether Nightwish is something for you, you should try this. It´s heavy, melodic, fast, slow, anything you could possibly want from a good, varied heavy metal album. And the voice of Tarja....So powerful, that it can knock you off your feet if you turn your stereo up too loud. But when she changes it to a soft, crystal clear vocal...It´s beautiful beyond description. It gives you a lump in your throat, even a tear in the eye sometimes. I can´t put my finger on a 'stand out track ', they are all very good and they represent the band really well. I will recommend this to anyone who is not familiar with Nightwish and even long time fans will get something for their money, because the cd includes couple of 'rare' tracks as well. Only 'negative' thing is, that there are no lyrics in the booklet...But then there are pictures of Tarja instead.
