A new name on the musical map, yet the head behind it is an old fellow: Morten Veland may be identified by many as the singer of Tristania. After he split off in anger he seems to want to prove to his old mates what he's really worth, for Sirenia sail the same seas as Tristania. "At sixes and sevens" is equally Gothic Metal with female and male vocals. Of course, this album is no plagiarism, Sirenia sound a bit more melodic, use some 70s and Folk influences, yet they sound similarly variable as Tristania, but in another way. The music is as catchy as that of Crematory, I personally like a lot that they steadily change the heaviness of the songs - which keeps it very fresh and interesting. A great debut for Morten Veland, I sure there will be a lot more to come from Sirenia.
