„At the Heart of Winter“ was the first production of Immortal together with Peter Tägtgren. Demonaz was only songwriter due to a chronic illness. The trio finally managed to create an epic reference work electrifying not only dyed-in-the-wool Black Metal fans.

Black metalists Immortal made a lot of progress in the past couple of months. With their last release they certainly lost a lot of hard-to-earn sympathy among the fans. But I accept it, that was in the past! The fifth album "At the heart of winter" definitely is the best album Abbath and Demonaz ever recorded! Epic, almost classic compositions full of great melodies and moreover a superb production. 6 songs with 46 minutes of running time. My opinion: One of the best black metal albums of present times, full of enthusiasm and demand. In brief: a masterpiece! (Andreas Reissnauer)

This albums showcased a completely different style of Immortal as compared to their earlier opus. The pace has slowed down a bit compared to Battles in the North and Pure Holocaust, nevertheless, the speed is definitely enough to maintain the bands ferocity. The guitar riffs here are more melodic in nature, technical in a way that it has good mixture of black metal and a sprinkle of thrashy tunes that brings more power to this album. Furthermore, the production is clean and of top quality.
