German epic metal pioneers 'Equilibrium' really light a fire of joy this summer with the release of their fifth LP. Guitarist, composer and songwriter René Berthiaume worked for nearly two years on the new album which is titled 'Armageddon'. The result: a quite grim output that still has the bombast and folk elements of previous albums. The album has been recorded, mixed and produced by René himself this time while Maor Appelbaum in Los Angeles was responsible for mastering. The cover artwork was created by Skadi Rosehurst again.

Equilibrium's 5th album and one to feature more English language songs than previous records.
For me this only lacks one thing that nearly all the previous band's album's had, a long epic song.
The rest of the album is big sounding epic German metal, that has many catchy melodies and riffs.
The real standout here, is probably the song that most fans (if you look at You Tube) don't like.
'Born To Be Epic' features a flute and some dub-step like parts, which for me work.
Definitely not quite as good as the previous release, but still a great effort.
