David DeFeis, singer and found of 'Virgin Steele':
"We are honoured and proud that Steamhammer / SPV will re-release our barbaric-romantic epic metal opera "THE HOUSE OF ATREUS" on May 20th this year! It will be a special 3 CD digipak. CD 1 contains the entire first act of the album. CD 2 and 3 contain the entire second act as well as the "MAGICK FIRE MUSIC" EP. THE HOUSE OF ATREUS was a true milestone for us and we are happy that we get the opportunity to present it once again to the fans. The original release was supported by a tour with massive stage productions of the state theatre Schwaben and it was one of our longest and most ambitious concert journeys ever. All of those who missed the album and the tour with its theatrical performance now get the chance to experience it in all of its glory and murderous aristocracy..."

This compilation includes 2 full length albums (The House of Atreus: Act I & II) & 1 EP (Magick Fire-Music) and is available in a buyer’s friendly price. The (digi)packaging is good and it consists of 3 CDs and a booklet, and the concept is based on Greek mythology.
These releases mark the end of the second (and best, for my tastes) Virgin Steele period, that started with The Marriage of Heaven and Hell: Part One & Two. However, they are - unfortunately - the last top notch Virgin Steele releases too.
Expect nothing less than melodic epic/power metal at its best. Not as perfect as Marriages (how could they?), but definitely a must buy for every epic metal fan.
