It's only mid-April but I already feel confident that I can call this my album of the year. Ihsahn has done it again.
Anyone familiar with his previous albums should be in no doubt as to the songwriting and lyrical prowess of this ex-Emperor mastermind, so it should come as no surprise that he's reached new heights on his latest opus.
In many ways it's more straight-forward the majority of his prior solo work, and definitely more riff and melody focused than his last album Das Seelenbrechen, but that's not to say t's simple at all and there are songwriting twists and turns throughout that most bands only wish they could come up with.
Fantastic production, excellent vocals and some great guest appearances. Do yourself a favour and buy this!
