The Scorpions celebrate their 50th band anniversary - on this occasion, „Toyko Tapes“ is released in a newly remastered 2-CD deluxe edition in a high-quality digipak. As bonus tracks, CD 2 contains previously unreleased live recordings of „Polar nights“, „Hell cat“, „Catch your train“, „He’s a woman, she’s a man“, „Robot man“ plus the Japanese national anthem „Kimi ga yo“, sang together with the Tokyo audience. The package is completed by a 16-page booklet with new liner notes from the former editor-in-chief of German Metal Hammer magazine Edgar Klüsener with photos, some of them rarely seen before.

Four months after the release of their "Taken by force" album, the Scorpions arrived in Tokyo. They had four concerts on their schedule: one in Osaka, one in Nagoya, and two in Tokyo's Nakano Sun Plaza. These two shows were recorded for the live double album "Tokyo Tapes" which was also meant as a farewell present for Uli Roth who left the band afterwards. This output is an impressive documentary of the Scorpion's biggest assets: their intoxicating and electrifying live presence, their incredible versatility, their intimate relation with their audience, and of course their musical and technical brilliance. In Tokyo, the band performed in their classic line-up with the two outstanding guitarists Rudolf Schenker and Uli Roth - charismatic front man Klaus Meine was on top of his game.
