"Deliverance & damnation remixed" by Opeth released as black 3-LP.

This is the first time you'll get the two albums "DELIVERANCE" and "DAMNATION" in one package - just as originally planned, but never realised by the band. This edition is available as a 3-LP with new stereo mix, on a heavy 180 gram pressing and with new cover artwork.

Deliverance is the reason I got into Opeth many years ago, and while their direction is changing I'd highly recommend these two as a package, they were recorded simultaneously but released separately, until now.

Deliverance is probably the most brutal of their Albums, though each song takes you on a journey with their own mellow interludes.

Damnation is completely mellow with no distortions whatsoever.

While there are other albums that could arguably be their best (ghost reveries, blackwater Park), this double pack is probably the best starter for a new fan.

It's hard to approach this double album without a fair amount of nostalgia. Deliverance was the first album I purchased by the Swedes and, although at the time I was a big death metal fan, it was the cleaner and acoustic passages that really impressed me and drew me in to the music. When Damnation came out the following year, and was totally in this quiet and acoustic style, it was a bit of a dream come true for me.

14 years after first hearing these albums I still love them and they take me back to the fond memories I have of hearing them for the first time.

As to this specific vinyl packaging of them; I'm very impressed. The remixes are done very tastefully and preserve the fantastic production values of both albums and the records themselves are extremely heavy and sturdy - something I always look for in a vinyl pressing. The one reason I'm removing a star is the sleeve they're packaged in. Fitting LP's in one sleeve is very tight to say the least and it's disappointing to not have a more luxurious package and set of liner notes etc. like the CD version. Other than this minor gripe I highly recommend purchasing!
