Quite a lot of long winters have passed, the world was waiting with anticipation but the Norwegian reigns of the dark tower asked for a lot of passion from their peoples. With a bang, "In sorte diaboli" ends the wait and presents Shagrath, Silenoz and their fellows from a gloomy, powerful as well as intoxicatingly catchy side of theirs. This album immediately puts a spell on you. Each single song is a delicious gem that only feeds the greed for more. "In sorte diaboli" provokes dangerous soundscapes, atmospheric passages cut through the hammering drum salves and screaming guitars. Above all this Metal power, the hateful voice of Shagrath is resplendent, sometimes, like in "The invaluable darkness", framed by female vocals or mystic choirs. This majestic album sets free dark energies that you can only bow down for.

So i have to admit, i had my reservations with regards to this type of metal on vinyl and whether or not it was worth adding to my collection as i already have it on Cd. My concerns were not only not warranted but totally unjustified. This album sounds brilliant on vinyl. I cannot recommend this more highly. A must have addition to a collection. Now if only EMP stocked more of their albums on vinyl??

Already had it on cd but decided to buy the vinyl and it sounds really impressive. One of my favorite bands although they went more commercial after enthrone darkness triumphant, still put out quality music. this album is a concept album, and is better than deathcult Armageddon, it has a thicker production, somewhat stale at times with vocal and synth effects, everybody else says it, vortex really shines on this album.Symphonic black metal at its best, absolute masterpiece.
