Foo Fighters are ready for you with a new album. "Sonic highways" is the title of it and is their in the meantime eighth work. Worldwide release is 10.11.2014 and that has a special reason. There are a series to the album which was personally directed by mister Grohl himself.
Grohl describes the series, which will be released for the first time in the USA on October 17, as a love letter to the history of American music. For the album and the series Grohl, Taylor Hawkins, Nate Mendel, Chris Shiflett and Pat Smear each wrote a song in one of the eight citiesand recorded it over there as well. They plunged into the respective local musical trends and explored how the region influenced their musicians in their formative years and what influence the musicians had on the cultural life of their home towns. For all songs local music stars were present and the lyrics arose in a unique and experimental way: Dave waited to write until the last day of every session, to be influenced by the experiences, the interviews for the HBO-series and by other local personalities, who were part of the process. With Daves words: „This album directly recognisably as Foo Fighters-album, but it goes deeper and is musically more mature. I think that all of these cities and all of these people inspired us, to open ourselves up and to break new ground, without losing our own sound.“
